About
Tarramba Brahmans & Brangus is a family-owned and operated beef enterprise based at “Tarramba”, near Banana QLD.
We operate a Brahman stud alongside a Brangus Stud and a commercial and backgrounding herd, with a strong focus on fertility, productivity, and sustainability.
The brahman herd consists of 500-600 registered Brahman females and 250-350 registered Brangus females. Commercial cows are x bred with Angus and Charolais bulls to produce our own background stock as well as buying and breeding a trade mob of 500-1000 steers and heifers annually.
Tarramba’s story began in 1979 when Wallace and Kate Gunthorpe, together with Wallace’s parents Keith and Nancy Gunthorpe, purchased Tarramba. The foundation Brahman females came from Kate’s parents, Arnie and Isabell Kirk of Rockley Brahmans. Today, Tarramba is proudly managed by Adam and Tracy Gunthorpe, along with their young children, Hannah and Fletcher. Adam has lived and worked on the property most of his life, and in 2018, he and Tracy purchased the land and cattle, ushering in the next era of Tarramba genetics.
Our direction was shaped through completing RCS Grazing for Profit and Executive Link, giving us a solid foundation in ecological and economic balance.
Following family succession in 2019, we restructured the business and acquired Tarramba (6,700 acres), followed by the lease of additional country (10,000 acres) and the purchase of Walloon (3,400 acres) in 2020.
In 2024, Adam and Tracy relocated to Montville in southern Queensland, where Tracy is currently studying Medicine at Griffith University, Sunshine Coast. Adam continues to oversee the breeding and property operations, regularly traveling to Tarramba. Day-to-day management is supported by our dedicated farm manager, Peter Rudd, whose extensive knowledge of pasture management and livestock handling is invaluable to the success of our program.
We value People, Profit, Land, and Cattle—managing each with integrity and respect for nature. Our business reflects our passion and purpose, enabling us to give back to the land and future generations.
